Ummah vs Ummahfy An Ummahfy alternative for Muslim event organizers

Ummahfy is a Muslim event discovery directory from Chicago with a light organizer tool attached: browse what is near you, filter by gender, age and organizer type, and post your own event free. Ummah is the operating system a Muslim organization runs on, of which event discovery is one part. The two overlap on exactly one thing, and diverge on everything after it.

Updated September 19, 2026 · their column read from their own pages that day

Ummahfy helps you find an event. Ummah helps you run the organization behind it.

Credit where it is due: Ummahfy has built the discovery filters most platforms skip. You can filter by organizer type, by age group, by gender, by whether something recurs weekly, and by distance from where you are. Those are the filters a Muslim actually wants and most event tools have never thought about. They also let anyone post a free event without an account upgrade, and they send text-message reminders, which is more than most.

Where the two products separate is everything that happens after the event ends. Ummahfy is a directory with ticketing bolted on. Ummah is the system the masjid or the organization runs on all year: everyone who registers becomes a member in a directory you own and can export, you take donations with a year-end tax receipt, you run the weekend school term with sibling pricing and attendance, you publish prayer times, and you embed all of it on your own website.

One thing to know before you compare cost: Ummahfy does not publish pricing. There is no pricing page on their site — not one that is hard to find, one that does not exist — and no fee figure appears anywhere in their application. We are not going to invent one. What their app does say is that a personal account creates free events and an organization account creates paid ones, and that organizers connect their own Stripe. Ask them directly what a paid ticket costs, and get the answer in writing.

Side by side

Ummahfy's column was read from ummahfy.com and their application bundle at /static/js/main.51d2c4fe.js, because the site renders nothing server-side on September 19, 2026. Where something is not published on their site, this table says so rather than guessing. Bold is the side that is ahead on that row. Prices move, so check theirs before you act on it.

Where Ummahfy is the better choice

No product wins every row, and a comparison page that pretends otherwise is not worth reading. Here is where we would point you at them instead.

The discovery filters

Organizer type, age group, gender and recurrence, on top of distance and date. That is the filter set a Muslim looking for something to go to on Saturday actually wants, and it is better thought through than ours. We would rather say so than pretend we invented the idea.

Posting is genuinely frictionless

A personal account can create a free event immediately. No plan to pick, no organization to set up first. If all you want is to get one halaqa in front of people this week, that is a low bar to clear and they clear it.

Text reminders to attendees

An attendee adds a phone number and gets a text before the event. Simple, and it works. We do SMS as an organizer broadcast on paid plans rather than an attendee-side reminder.

Questions

They do not publish it. On September 19, 2026 there was no pricing page on ummahfy.com, and no fee figure — no platform fee, no service fee, no per-ticket amount, no subscription — appeared anywhere in their site or their application. What their app does say is that a personal account creates free events and an organization account is needed to create paid ones, and that organizers connect their own Stripe account, with checkout in US dollars. We are not going to guess at a number on their behalf. Ask them, and get the answer in writing before you sell a ticket.
If you want your event listed somewhere Muslims are browsing and nothing more, both will do it and Ummahfy’s filters are better than ours. If you are an organization rather than a one-off event — a masjid, a school, an MSA, a non-profit — then the question is what happens after the event: whether the people who came become members you can reach in Ramadan, whether you can take a donation and hand back a receipt, whether the weekend school runs in the same place, whether your prayer times publish themselves. Ummahfy does not do any of those, and Ummah is built around them.
On Ummah, yes: your event gets a server-rendered public page with Event structured data, sits on a city page and a state page, and is in a sitemap. On Ummahfy, that is harder, because their site renders nothing on the server. Every route we fetched returned the same page shell with the same title and a canonical tag pointing at their homepage, their declared sitemap returns HTML instead of XML, and we found no Event structured data anywhere. A crawler that does not run JavaScript sees "You need to enable JavaScript to run this app." That is fixable on their side and may well be fixed by the time you read this — check it yourself rather than take our word for it.
Not as far as their site and application show — we found no donation feature at all. On Ummah you get donation campaigns with goals, recurring giving, a donor directory, an optional donation on top of a ticket at checkout, year-end tax receipts carrying your own legal name, EIN and logo, embeddable donation widgets for your own website, and a kiosk app for giving in the lobby.
We read what they publish, and where they publish nothing the table says "not published" instead of filling the gap. Because their site renders nothing server-side, most of their product facts here came from reading their own application bundle, which we would rather disclose than quietly rely on. The table prints three rows where they are ahead, including their discovery filters, which are better than ours. They are a small Muslim team in Chicago building something useful for the same ummah we serve, and more Muslim events getting found is good whoever lists them. If anything here is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it and say what we fixed.
