Because 0% platform fee is worth far more in some months than others. A month-to-month plan would let an organization sign up the week before a large fundraiser, process it at 0%, and leave, which means the communities running steadily all year end up subsidising the ones who do not. An annual term keeps the 0% honest. Free and Basic stay month-to-month, and Basic at 1.5% is a genuinely good rate for a single event.

Yes, on Basic and on Advanced. We design and build one branded site for your organization at no extra cost, on your own domain, and keep the prayer times and donation widget synced to your Portal. It is not available on Free. Scope is one site per organization. See what a build covers.

Every paid event ticket sold through Ummah carries a platform fee: 3% on Free, 1.5% on Basic and 0% on Advanced. It is added to the ticket price at checkout and paid by the attendee, so you receive the full ticket price on every plan. Free events are never charged on any plan. Donations run on Advanced, where the platform fee is already 0%, so we take nothing from what your community gives. For comparison, Eventbrite’s service fee is 3.7% plus $1.79 a ticket, also paid by the buyer by default. Card processing is extra on both.

Payments run through your own Stripe or PayPal account, so the processor’s standard rates apply on top of any Ummah platform fee. As of August 2026:

• Stripe: 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, or 2.2% + $0.30 for verified nonprofits.
• PayPal Checkout: 3.49% + $0.49, or 1.99% + $0.49 for verified nonprofits.
• PayPal card payments: 2.89% + $0.29, or 2.19% + $0.29 for verified nonprofits.

Processor fees go to Stripe or PayPal, not to Ummah. If your organization is a 501(c)(3), apply for the nonprofit rate with your processor, it is the single biggest fee saving available. Rates are set by the processors and can change; their pricing pages are the source of truth.

No. The Free plan is genuinely free, start your community at community.theummah.io with no card. You only add billing when you upgrade.

No. Every plan, including Free, comes with unlimited members. Add your whole community, approve join requests as they come in, and never pay more because you grew. What you pay depends on the plan you pick, not on how many members you have.

Free and Basic are month-to-month with no contract and no minimum, so you can move between them any time from the Community Portal. Advanced runs on a twelve-month term and comes with a written agreement setting out what is included, what it costs, and how it renews. You can upgrade into it whenever you are ready, and if you are on Basic and move up, talk to us about crediting what you have paid.

No, there is never a setup fee. The 14-day guided onboarding program is included on Basic and Advanced at no additional cost. On Free you set up yourself, and the product is built so you can: most organizations have their feed, events, and prayer times live in an afternoon.

Card for your own subscription. For money coming in from your community, ticket and donation payments run through a payment account you connect to your organization, so the funds land with you and not with us. On Advanced, the Ummah Kiosk takes tap-to-pay donations on a tablet you already own.

Start with who pays. On paid tickets the buyer pays the platform’s fee at checkout by default, on Ummah and on Eventbrite alike, and the organizer receives the ticket price. Eventbrite’s service fee is 3.7% plus $1.79 a ticket. Ours is 3% on Free, 1.5% on Basic and 0% on Advanced, with no per-ticket charge, so on a $20 ticket your attendee pays $2.53 there against 60 cents, 30 cents or nothing here. On donations we take no platform fee. Card processing is extra on every platform, ours included.
