Ummah vs The Masjid App A Masjid App alternative for masajid

Both put a masjid in one app that Muslims already carry. They will also build you an app under your own name. Ummah bundles the rest in one published price: the Ummah Kiosk and TV displays on hardware you already own, vendor booth maps, donations at 0% and a website we build, $75 a month. Here is the honest split, including where they are ahead.

30,000+ Muslims and 3,000+ communities on Ummah

They are strongest in the app stores. We are strongest on the rate card.

The Masjid App has the best-rated consumer app in this category. It lists 120k+ masajid so a user can find their own and get its iqama times and notifications, and it carries a 4.9 rating from 558 people on the App Store and 1,300+ on Google Play. Every masjid gets its own address on their domain, a masjid can buy an app under its own name from $99 a month, and they sell a kiosk, a handheld reader and a prayer clock for the TV. Their donations page even runs its own comparison table against Zeffy, PayPal and Donorbox.

What the site does not have is a price. Apart from that $99 figure there is no rate card, no free plan and no stated platform fee on donations, so a board comparing the two has to book a demo before it can compare anything at all. Ummah publishes every plan and every fee, includes events with ticketing on the free plan, and puts your masjid in front of 30,000+ Muslims who open the app to find something to attend, not only to look up a prayer time. Advanced, $75 a month billed annually, bundles the rest: donations at 0%, the Ummah Kiosk and TV displays on the tablets and TVs you already own, vendor booth maps, staff roles and a website we design and build.

One app, every community

Your masjid in the pocket of someone who has not met you yet.

A branded app under your own name reaches the people who go looking for it, which means the people who already attend. Ummah is one app for every community, with a feed of events and Discover Nearby, so a family that moved in last spring finds your Jumu'ah, your youth night and your Ramadan program without knowing your name first.

  • 30,000+ Muslims and 3,000+ communities in one app
  • Your events surface to Muslims searching nearby, not only to your followers
  • A public community page that search engines can read
  • No app download required for someone to RSVP
A real community page: Islamic Center of Frisco, with prayer times, about, donate and join.
Registrations, waitlist and check-in from one tab.

A number you can put in a budget.

Ummah publishes its rate card. Free to start, $19/mo with a website we build, $75/mo with a 0% platform fee and the kiosk and TV displays included. The Masjid App publishes one figure, $99/mo for the branded app, and nothing for the donation platform, hosting, kiosk or clock, so a board has to book a demo before it can compare.

  • Every plan and fee listed publicly
  • The Ummah Kiosk and TV displays included on Advanced, on hardware you already own
  • 0% platform fee on Advanced, so fundraising totals stay whole
  • Events with ticketing and QR check-in on the free plan

Questions

If you want an app that carries your masjid's own name and icon in the stores, The Masjid App builds one from $99 a month and we do not. For the rest of the masjid, Ummah bundles it in one published price: events with tickets and check-in, members and dues, donations at a 0% platform fee, the Ummah Kiosk and TV displays on the tablets and TVs you already own, vendor booth maps, prayer times, the shared app and a website we build, $75 a month billed annually on Advanced. The Masjid App sells its kiosk, handheld reader and prayer clock as products and publishes no price for them.
The only price on their site today is that the branded app "starts at just $99/month with no setup fees". The donation platform, website hosting, kiosk, prayer clock and volunteer pages give no figure, and there is no pricing page. You would need to book a demo to get the rest.
Free to start: events with tickets and QR check-in, members, prayer times and the app at $0, with a 3% platform fee on paid tickets. Basic is $19/mo, month to month, with a 1.5% platform fee and a website we design and build included. Advanced is $75/mo billed annually with a 0% platform fee, and it bundles everything: donations, the Ummah Kiosk, TV displays, vendor booth maps, staff roles and the website. The platform fee is added at checkout and paid by the buyer. Payment processing is charged separately by the processor on either platform.
No. Every organization on Ummah lives inside one shared app, the same way a masjid on The Masjid App lives inside their consumer app. The difference is that they also sell a branded app under your own name from $99/mo, and we do not. We made that choice on purpose: a branded app reaches only the people who go looking for it, and a shared app with 30,000+ Muslims in it reaches people who have never heard of you.
By ratings, theirs. When we looked, The Masjid App had 4.9 stars with 558 ratings on the App Store and 1,300+ reviews with 50,000+ downloads on Google Play, and 120k+ masajid listed inside it. Ummah has 30,000+ Muslims and 3,000+ communities on the app and far fewer store ratings. What Ummah has that a directory does not is an events feed and Discover Nearby, so the people in it are browsing for something to attend, not only looking up iqama.
Yes. The Ummah Kiosk is live and included in the $75 Advanced plan. It runs on an iPad or Android tablet you already own, so there is no device to buy: tap-to-pay donations with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a contactless card, QR ticket check-in, walk-up registration and new-member sign-up, an ad carousel when it is idle, and every kiosk managed from Kiosk Management in the portal. The Masjid App sells a kiosk and a handheld reader, and its site gives no price for either. QR check-in from a phone also works on Ummah on every plan.
Yes. TV displays are live and included in the $75 Advanced plan, on the TVs you already own: open a web link on any smart-TV browser or HDMI stick. They show prayer and iqama times with a countdown, Jumu’ah times, events, campaign totals, announcements and sponsor slides, in four layouts, horizontal or vertical, with a Ramadan mode and an urgent notice to every screen at once. The Masjid App sells a Prayer Clock display for TVs; its site gives no price for it.
We make Ummah, so read it knowing that. Their column was read from their site, a sample masjid page and both store listings on September 14, 2026, and we listed what we found. They are still ahead on two rows: an app under your masjid's own name, and store ratings. If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
