UmmahWe all have been there, the gut-wrenching feeling of losing your only source of income. The anxiety of “what happens next?”
“What about my bills?”
“I promised Mom I would buy her that gift.”
“What am I going to say to my wife?”
“Where do I go for help?”
It’s not easy, we acknowledge that. Certain tests from Allah are very overwhelming, especially in this world designed by engineers to profit off of your sorrow and isolation, cheap extraction of your time and skills and making your self-worth your job title.
“And never would Allah have caused you to lose your faith. Indeed Allah is, to the people, Kind and Merciful.”
Here is what we can do to help you.
Focus on seeking help from the All-Giver. Each test is meant to bring you closer to Allah SWT, not drive you away from him. “Allah is truly with those who are patient.”
(Find the nearest house of Allah (Masajids) on the Ummah map.)
Job portals don’t work anymore. Your next best bet is a referral from someone who already works in a company. Polish your resume and LinkedIn. And show up to your nearest networking event. Use the Ummah app to locate the nearest events and sign up asap.
“Allah is helping the servant as long as the servant is helping his brother.” Use this free time to volunteer for causes you are passionate about. As long as you are sincere in your intentions, you will find help from Allah SWT in places you never imagined.
(P.s. If you are sincere, you will be rewarded.)
The feeling of exhaustion upon realising that you have no way to go is truly and honestly tiring. You can scroll on your phone, and you see people expressing their success. Their new job, their new car, their new land… and all of it, somehow accumulates in “how lucky. I wish I had that…”
However,
“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient… ‘Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return'” – Surah Al-Baqarah (2:155-156).
With patience and the right mindset, we can overcome this hardship too. The tests that come your way are just another one of those moments in life where you have to prove yourself to your faith. Dedicate yourself to prayer and patience, and wait until your reward is given to you.
For, “Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise.”
“إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ” – Surah Al-Imran (3:9).
In the Ummah app, we have created a platform that provides you with everything. While you have the time to finally take a breath from your stressful 9-5, you can use the Ummah app to find your nearest masjid and find peace in Dikhr at your local masjid.
Or you can join events around you, contribute to Ummah, and make connections that don’t require unethical means. Simply meet your brothers/sisters, and share your knowledge. You can also create your profiles on the Ummah app, using it as an alternative to LinkedIn, but for the muslim community. A safe, respectible space to show your achievements and experience.
